In the beginning of 2021, AGRIVI joined the UN Global Compact initiative, a diverse group of businesses and other actors gathered around the goal of achieving corporate sustainability.
AGRIVI is a participant of a large family consisting of public sector organizations, academics, foundations, business associations, labour, small and medium-sized enterprises, global and local NGOs as well as other stakeholders in more than 160 states.
All together, the UN Global Compact gathers more than 12.000 global participants and provides support in taking strategic actions in order to advance broader societal goals like UN SDG and Agenda 2030.
Participants of the UN Global Compact pledge to uphold the initiative’s Ten Principles, consisting of fundamental responsibilities in the field of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. These principles are based on the UN’s accepted declarations and conventions and thus act as an authority for sustainable responsible business.
The Ten Principles of the United Nation Global Compact are:
Human Rights
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
